Crown Ducal Trial Vase – Probably by Charlotte Rhead
A unique piece of Crown Ducal ware dating from the 1930s – most likely attributable to Charlotte Rhead. I have written in detail about this item in a blog, so feel free to read that to see why I am pretty sure it was produced by Charlotte. The vase stands approx. 18cm (7″) tall, with a diameter of 9.5cm (3.75″) across the top. There is an incised number on the base – 173 – which is a known Crown Ducal shape number.
It is structurally sound in itself, with no chips or cracks. Since it is a clear trial piece however, it is not in perfect condition, with some rubbing and colour loss here and there. Some of the tube-lining has come away over the years. A one-off chance to own a singularly unique item however!
